Against Kráma's better judgment, he chose to trust the meeting of Cooper and his as a good sign of friendship and some type of fortune of the times. "The war was an interesting one," he replied. "Where were you during that?" Kráma wasn't great at facial or social cues - he had to assume that Cooper would know that his question wasn't as pointed as it might have sounded. There was always a margin of error in Kráma's social calculations, though.
"I suppose I got what I deserved..." His grin grew dark. "They locked me up, mate. I've had a target on my back ever since I was let out." Kráma let out a small sigh. "The only reason why I'm not back in there is because my release had nothing to do with Death Eater affiliation. The corrupted Ministry at the time just let everyone out assuming we'd all follow Voldemort or some shit."
Kráma shrugged and let the news hang in the air without interruption. He played a little with a lukewarm coal by his workbench, flipping it in the palm of his hand. The stench of the shop and his story lingering somewhere behind his news. He thought about his time behind those walls and heard laughter prod the back of his mind. He may trust Cooper with his story of Azkaban, but he doesn't trust him around his friends yet - he didn't even trust his friends. That would have to be a revelation for another day.
Before completing his time at Hogwarts, Kráma had been heavily sedated by his medications and bargained with before entering the school: Keep up with his medications and be on his best behavior, and good things would come to him. When he left, he didn't speak to anyone, and he doubted many knew what he had been up to since. The people he knew now didn't know him then, despite some having been Slytherins themselves.

Rebel laughed out loud when Sam pretended to not want to see her "secret formula" for her tonic. "Don't worry," she said with a sly voice and wink. "This one I keep close to the chest." All joking aside, Rebel did hope that once Sam took a bite of the casserole, he would be obsessed. The first step to making a man want you as his partner is to steal his heart with your food. That's one of the few useful things that her mum taught her that she could carry with her even into the magical world. And Sam was the first man she had bothered to cook for.
Sam seemed to almost ramble as he tried to explain to her that he needed answers about where they were in their "relationship." Rebel felt tears well up in her eyes, and she tried her best to blink them away, though she feared she could feel a tear falling down her cheek. She hated believing that she caused this much confusion for him. He deserved so much better. Rebel gripped Sam's hand tightly when he touched hers.
She moved Kirley onto the picnic blanket, and pushed their food aside before moving in so close to Sam that there was barely any room for air. She wrapped her arms tightly around his waist, as they sat facing each other. Before he could say anything else, Rebel kissed Sam hard. Harder than she could remember kissing him, or anyone. A moment later she moved her face away and looked directly into his eyes. "I... I only want you, Sam. I mean it. Please believe me..." Her eyes were begging him for actual forgiveness, and for a chance to be something.

Rebel smirked. "I feel like even if I tried, the moment you opened your mouth, my audience would know it's a joke," she said. She wasn't creative enough to fool people like that. Maybe The Daily Prophet.
When Connor seemed intrigued by her charmed quill and pad, she laughed. "Muggleborn?" she asked with a cocked eyebrow. "Yeah, you can get them at a couple of stores in Hogsmeade, if you're interested," she continued. "Not sure what total good it will do you right now, but..." Rebel's mind wandered back to Connor's schedule as he seemed to regain his composure, as well. The athelete thought through his practices, and the quill made small scratching noises across the pad. Rebel folded her arms while she listened, considering what the best time would be to pull him into her studio.
"Sounds like Sunday or Monday is typically best," she thought outloud. "I can't wait for the owl." Rebel took another small sandwich and gave a warm squeeze on his shoulder with her free hand. "Thanks for the talk, bud," she said. "See you soon."
Rebel walked away with a proud smirk on her face, looking for some former classmates to pester. She nabbed a big name for her show. Rebel would be on her way to the top in no time. Fuck you, Caroline, Rebel thought, knowing that that cocky radio personality didn't stand a chance at the top of the ratings for long.

Abbey blushed again at the word "stunning," and smiled brightly. Cooper kissed the back of her hand, as he had the day they met, and she had to look down to not turn beet-red. "Flattery will get you everywhere," she replied coyly and squeezed his hand gently before he pulled it away. When the wizard handed her a rose, she grinned deeply and smelled it. "It's beautiful... Thank you, Cooper."
So this is what it felt like to be courted, huh?
Although Abbey only knew Cooper for a little less than a week, she felt like she could read parts of him decently well - even if most of his life was a mystery to her at the moment. And this evening, Dale Cooper seemed completely excited about something. She almost thought she felt it in his pulse when he held her hand. Perhaps he had an exciting night ahead for both of them.
"You have something else for me?" Abbey echoed, stunned. "What on earth--" Cooper reached out and held his palm closed, enclosing her hand over his. She felt something a little jagged but smooth in his hand. She wondered what in the world he could have gotten for her, but she was excited to find out.
She opened her palm, and her mouth fell open. "Oh gosh..." she gasped, softly. "Cooper... I... Thank you." The rose quartz in her hand was relatively round, with a few jagged corners on each side. The crystalized rose-pink had flecks of iridescence that glittered under the setting sun behind them. She looked into Cooper's eyes and smiled. "You really didn't have to do this... But, thank you. It's beautiful. The rose, the quartz, this night. I can't wait to see what else you have in store." Abbey was beaming now, and they hadn't even officially started the date.

Spencer smiled politely to Keiko, after she bumped into her, and bowed her head slightly out of respect. "I was looking for you, Miss Maki," she said. "I believe we both have a lunch date set on our calendars..." Spencer giggled lightly.
"I'm absolutely starving right now! Do you have any idea what you'd like to eat?" Luckily for both Ministry women, there were a ton of options for places to eat both in the large cafeteria of the Ministry of Magic headquarters, and throughout London and into Diagon Alley.
Spencer straightened out the few wrinkles of her pencil skirt and tucked her quill and notepad into her leather purse. Her blouse was a loose-fitting and chic white button-up. Spencer was trying to take her father's advice and dress for the job she wants; and she wasn't looking to return to Flourish & Blott's - although she missed working alongside Orion.
"Ooh, do you smell that?" Spencer beamed as they got close to a restaurant selling curry. "Do you like curry? It's one of my favorites," she asked Keiko with a smile.
OoC: I changed this slightly, because we kinda talked about how they were going to have a little lunch date/meeting since Spencer was new and Keiko was closer to her age. Hope you don't mind.

Seconds had turned to minutes, minutes had turned to hours, and Marshall still had not heard back from Lissette. His stress, which had been mounting with each passing moment while he waited for her to respond, had finally leveled out to a steady pounding worry in the back of his head. When she'd first gone silent, he'd almost begun panicking again, wondering what could have caused her to stop responding so suddenly. Had she somehow gotten her arm stuck? Had something attacked her? Was she unconscious? Was she even worse off than that? Through sheer force of will, Marshall had pushed those thoughts as far from the center of his mind as he could. There was no reason he could think of for her silence that seemed more logical than, 'She's in trouble', so he elected to not think about a reason at all.
That is how the Hogwarts Charms Professor came to be standing at a table with two silver sickles from his pocket, trying to invent a new spell. He'd already enchanted both coins with a Protean Charm (one of the main spells he'd used when fashioning the bracelets he'd made for Lissette and himself) and he was now trying to create a spell which could provide a location based on a magical 'echo'. The basic idea seemed simple enough: The Protean Charm copied the magical changes from one coin to another, so he wanted a spell which reported back the location of that copy; almost like a magical radar of sorts. The problem was, the idea was a lot simpler than the execution.
Marshall held one of the two coins between his thumb and forefinger and tapped the edge with his wand to change the numbers. Immediately, the face of the other coin he'd placed across the table shifted to reflect that change. With that done, he tapped the edge of the coin in his wand again, muttering under his breath. Inventing spells was an extremely tough thing to do, depending on the spell's complexity. On the whole, Marshall didn't dabble in it too much, save a couple quality of life charms he'd invented in his seventh year - including one that kept his chewing gum fresh for days, if he cared to chew it that long. Given that this spell was significantly more complex, and he was on a tight schedule, the outlook wasn't so great. Even so, he had to try. He had to do something. Finishing his muttering, Marshall tapped the edge once more. A red light shot up into the air from the second coin across the table - exactly like a flare. Marshall blinked in surprise. That hadn't been exactly what he was expecting, but in some ways it was encouraging. Clearly he was in the ballpark for this one, given that he was trying to 'locate' the coin and a flare is meant for exactly that.
Furrowing his brow, Marshall thought through the incantation he'd devised and tried to determine where to best alter it. Just then, a tinkling from his wrist reached his ears and Marshall dropped the coin he was holding in his haste to read the incoming message. "China". He blinked at his wrist. Not a mention of the gap in responses or her current status. His frown deepened. "She's okay.", a small voice in the back of his mind told him, "She was able to send a message and that means she's alive." Clinging to what small comfort that gave him, Marshall hurried over to the map he'd been using. His heart sank. China was a huge country. He'd known that before checking the map of course, but seeing it here in front of him and knowing that he needed a much smaller search area for his Homonculous Charm plan to work was extremely disheartening. He tried to think through what he knew of China's geography - thinking of the "Mountains", "Snow", and "River" clues from earlier. Unfortunately, this could apply to a number of areas in the vast country. No good. Even the "Buddhist monastery" clue wasn't much use. Marshall knew how popular that religion was in this area, so without a more precise location it was not much help.
Fortunately, another clue arrived as if it heard his thoughts. Marshall read aloud as the letters appeared. "Hengduan Mountains". Off the top of his head, he had no idea where those were, but a couple minutes of dragging his finger across the map and searching provided the answer. "Here we go…", Marshall said to no one, feeling his heart rate increase. He was finally onto something. The area was much too large still, but perhaps if he combined all the clues together… Snatching up a clean sheet of parchment, he wrote them all out. "Mountains. Snow. Green Valley. Sunrise. Birds. Too Early. River. Buddhist monastery. China. Hengduan Mountains." The two that jumped out at him as most useful now were "Hengduan Mountains" and "Buddhist monastery". If he could find locations of monastery-like structures in those mountains, that might narrow the search field enough for a Homonculous charm to work. The only question now was, how to do that? Unfortunately for him, the Hogwarts library didn't focus too heavily on Muggle religions; at least, not in any books he'd found. If those types of reading materials were here, he had no idea where to look. Of course, the most likely stack to contain that information was currently in the flippin' Hengduan Mountains…
Marshall felt his frustration flare up and he took a breath to calm himself. He checked the time on his watch - a gift passed down from his muggle grandfather to his muggle-born father, and finally to him. The hairs on the back of his neck tingled, but he couldn't quite put his finger on why. Marshall felt the beginnings of an idea forming and froze, not wanting to scare it off. Something about the watch had triggered it, but what was it…? Slowly, Marshall's eyebrows rose. "A muggle solution…", he whispered.
In a flurry of movement, Marshall sprang into action. He picked up the large map he'd been using, folded it, and slid it into his back pocket. Then, he glanced down at himself to ensure he wasn't wearing anything that would be too out of the ordinary in the muggle world. Fortunately, his casual slacks, button-down shirt, and crimson vest were perfect for such an outing. His sleeves were a bit wrinkled, having been rolled up to better perform charm work hours ago, but Marshall didn't mind. He simply kept them rolled up and reached for the candelabra he'd used earlier for a quick trip to the South Pole. Raising his wand, Marshall gave it a tap to activate the portkey and disappeared once more - this time with a much more precise destination in mind.
---------------
As if he was pulled the entire way by a hook behind his navel, Marshall landed on soft grass in a cozy neighborhood. The early evening was in full swing and a beautiful sunset was partially obscured by the house he stood behind - one that was extremely familiar to him. As if on cue, the back door to the house flew open and an older, dark skinned woman stood there with a wand pointed straight at his heart and a challenge in her eye. "Apparatin' in MY back yar…", her eyes went wide and she stopped mid-sentence. "Marsh honey?!", she called excitedly, charging into the back yard to hug her son. "Hey mom.", Marshall replied sweetly, returning the hug and noting how good it felt with how vulnerable he'd been feeling these past hours. That memory kicked his mind and limbs back into motion.
"I'm really sorry but I can't talk right now. Which way is that Muggle library? End of the street?" He pointed this way and that, unable to remember if he should head right or left. Mary blinked in surprise, but decided not to challenge her son. She'd seen that determined look in his eye before. "That way.", she told him, pointing to the right. "End of the street, cross over, then go another block down." She gave him a searching look, but held her tongue for now. Marshall kissed her hands and began to run toward the street. After a few steps, he turned and tossed the candelabra to her. "Portkey.", he said with a half-smirk. When Mary looked confused, Marshall added. "Didn't apparate. Used a portkey." Turning again, he ran to the sidewalk and down the street, but not before hearing his mother's loving chide, "Boy don't go correctin' your own mama!"
---------------
Marshall took the single flight up steps up to the front doors three at a time, then paused at the top to catch his breath. It'd been a while since he'd run a couple blocks like that, and in his haste he had definitely forgotten to breathe properly. After about thirty seconds of recovery, he was able to open the door to the small town library and head inside. It was sparsely populated, but given how small the place was and the hour, that wasn't exactly surprising. They would be closing in an hour or so. Glancing around hastily, Marshall found what he was looking for - a set of three side-by-side computers. Walking over, he sat down at one of them and grabbed the mouse. Having been born to a muggle-born father, Marshall had spent a fair deal of time around muggles and muggle technology. He was no stranger to telephones, automobiles, and electric razors. He'd even spent over an hour with his muggle cousin a few summers ago while she showed him something she called "internet". He didn't remember too much about it, but he did remember her showing him a computer 'sight' where you could search for information based on specific parameters. Unfortunately, how she connected to the internet and what that site was called were blanks in his mind at the moment. Moving the mouse around on the screen, Marshall leaned forward and began hovering over one item after another on the desktop, reading the name aloud. "Recycle Bin…no. Uh…Notepad. Probably not. Umm, Internet Explorer. Oh maybe…"
"May I help you, sir?", a kind voice from his side asked. Marshall jumped slightly and turned to see a smiling woman about Lissette's age standing there. She nodded to the screen. "Sorry. I didn't mean to eavesdrop. I could just hear you talking to yourself and you didn't seem all that comfortable on the computer, so I thought…maybe I should offer." Torn between gratitude and embarrassment, Marshall nodded. "Please.", he replied with a small smile of his own. "I'm pretty lost." With a helpful smile and an understanding nod, the woman pulled up an extra chair next to Marshall. It was then that he noticed the name-tag she wore with "Linda" printed neatly on it. She was the librarian here - and she was offering, albeit unknowingly, to help him find his librarian. Something about that made Marshall want to laugh and cry all at once.
Fortunately, Linda spoke up in that moment. "So you were trying to get on the internet, right?", she asked, reaching over in front of him to double-click on the Internet Explorer icon. A web page slowly loaded, declaring the current local weather and political news. "Anything in particular you're looking for?" Marshall nodded, "Yes. I'm trying to remember something my little cousin showed me. It's a thing…", he pointed to the screen, "Where you can ask this butler a question and he finds and answer."
Linda stifled a giggle. "Are you talking about Ask Jeeves?", she queried. Marshall's eyes lit up. "Yes! That's it. I need to find the location of a monastery in China." The librarian gave him a curious look, but didn't give him any grief for the odd request. She seemed used to assisting with random things like this, though probably more commonly with students working on book reports. "No problem.", she said with a confident smile. "But don't use Ask Jeeves. That place is way old. Just use Google." Marshall's blank stare clearly showed he had no idea what she meant. With a smirk, Linda clicked on the address bar at the top and said, "Type in Google.com then press enter."
Raising his right index finger, Marshall began to hunt and peck for letters, taking a solid two seconds between each one. After adding a third 'o' and putting the 'e' before the 'l' (he had no idea how to spell "Google"), Linda spoke up. "Would you like to switch seats?" Her tone was as kind as ever and she did a great job of not making Marshall feel too ashamed at his ignorance - she clearly just wanted to help. All the same, Marshall sounded a bit embarrassed when he agreed; but that feeling was quickly replaced with gratitude when he saw how quickly Linda's fingers flew over the keyboard.
"Okay.", she said, turning her head toward him, "What're we looking for?" Marshall held up the piece of parchment he'd taken with him, drawing another surprised and curious look from the Librarian. "A monastery in the Hengduan Mountains in China." With a few clicks of the keys, they were off. A new page loaded with search results in front of them. "Looks like there's a few - or, at least, there's a few things that could maybe be called monasteries. You know the name of it?", Linda asked. Marshall shook his head. "Unfortunately, that's what we're looking for." He raised the parchment again and looked through the clues. "It would be near a river, if that helps." Linda nodded, clearly focusing. She edited her search and tried again. Furrowing her brow, she glanced over to the parchment Marshall held and began trying different search combinations using the keywords there. Linda didn't talk as she worked, showing a level of focus that Marshall truly admired. Several minutes passed as the search evolved, new web pages opened, and Linda read descriptions under her breath. "This one's a full blown monastery…but I wouldn't say it's near a river…", she muttered, more to herself than to Marshall. She closed the page and went to the next one down in the list. "This one's almost like a village, but it's sorta near a river so maybe…"
Marshall kept his vigil over Linda's shoulder, trying his best to spot anything that might stick out. Several more minutes later, Linda spoke again. "Are you looking for an active monastery? As in, one with people there?" Marshall considered the question for a moment before replying. "That's a great question. I honestly don't know for sure. Why do you ask?" Linda pointed to the screen. "Well there's this old fortress thing here that's built into the mountain, but it's supposedly abandoned." She scrolled farther down the page and read aloud, "...officially off limits to everyone by order of the Chinese government...located near the site of a nuclear accident that left the entire area radioactive...also supposedly haunted..." She made a face. "Probably not what you're looking for." As Linda made to close the article, Marshall spoke up, having been hit with a sudden inspiration. "Wait!", he called hurriedly. Everything she'd just said sounded extremely familiar to him, especially because he literally worked at a place that could be described similarly by muggles - Hogwarts. "Muggle-Repelling Charms...", thought Marshall excitedly. Was it possible that the stack had been sent there? Marshall considered that for a long moment while Linda looked him in curious confusion. It certainly made sense that the stack would be drawn to a place of magical power. That is...assuming his hunch about Muggle-Repelling Charms wasn't completely off; and he had a good feeling that it wasn't. His gut was resolute on this one.
"Do you have a map of that?", Marshall asked, pointing to the screen. Linda, still looking curious as to why he wanted a map of the condemned zone, gave a nod, "I can just print this." Marshall gave a confused look at that, and the Librarian gave one of her own, wondering how he'd never heard of printing before. She pressed a button and a machine a couple feet away woke up. It started making a grinding noise which lead Linda to rolling her eyes and sighing. Walking over, she fought with it for a moment before pulling out a crumpled piece of paper which had evidently jammed. "Piece of junk…", she muttered under her breath as the printer came to life again and slowly began spitting out the map one line of ink at a time. In Marshall's mind, this was clearly how "printing" was always done. Linda tapped her foot while she waited and a minute later she returned with the printed map. "Bingo.", she said triumphantly, handing the paper to him. Marshall took the map and jumped to his feet, pulling the Librarian into a hug. "Thanks you!!", he crowed. Linda "Ooof"ed in surprise. "Sorry…", said Marshall, his joy calming down and remembering that he barely knew this woman. "This is just…incredibly helpful." He took a step back and looked over the map, feeling more confident by the moment. As he made to dash out the door, Marshall turned his head and gave Linda his most charming and sincere smile. "Librarians are the greatest thing to ever happen to this world. I want you to know that." With that, he turned and ran back outside.
Marshall hurried around behind the building and, like a school kid hiding from a teacher, ducked into a bush and crouched down. Once there, Marshall pulled the map he'd taken from Hogwarts out of his back pocket and laid it against the ground. Taking the computer print-out, he compared the two until he found the corresponding area on the Hogwarts map. While the printed sheet of paper had lines going through it to mark the area off and the words "Condemned. Off limits." translated from Chinese over its top, the Hogwarts Map told an entirely different tale. The name 'Shangri-la' looked back at him over the small outline of an entire village that seemed to be built into or on top of the mountains. Marshall's heart leapt. He had to be onto something here.
Pulling out his wand, Marshall pointed it at the name 'Shangri-la'. That area of the map expanded, giving the effect of zooming in. Pointing his wand again, Marshall murmured an incantation. A few heart-stopping seconds later, labeled dots began to appear; some moving around, some stationary, and many clustered together. It took two solid minutes of searching before one of the most wonderful sights he'd ever seen caught his eye. A tiny dot labeled "Elisabet de Lapin". "Yes!", cried Marshall triumphantly. A passing man walking his dog looked up, startled at the random exclamation coming from a bush. He quickened his pace to vacate the area. Marshall couldn't care less. It was her! In a flash, he'd folded up both maps and placed them into his back pocket.
With his heart in his throat, Marshall clasped a charm between his thumb and forefinger - sending a new message to his love. "Found you". Once that was away, the Charms Professor reached over and grabbed a small branch lying on the ground and tapped it with his wand, feeling once more the jerk behind his navel. Seconds later, he stood in a clearing clutching a wand in one hand and a twig in the other. In front of him, strewn all across the valley floor, was the contents of the "China" stack.
